Regional Director for Northern Christchurch, Yasa Panagoda, reports that positive progress is happening with earthquake damaged schools and facilities- in one case- Banks Avenue School.

After being damaged in the 2011 earthquake, Banks Avenue School is back in shape and CrestClean is planning to help them stay that way.

“I had to find the right person to take care of the newly refurbished school,” Yasa says.  “Leo Li’s prior experience and commitment made him the obvious choice for the job. He is one of our Regional Floor Care Trainers and works incredibly hard. He is a very valuable franchisee.”

Leo is originally from a small town in China called Datong and decided to move to New Zealand in 2002 to learn English. “I decided to stay a bit longer and ended up going to high school and university here,” he says.

“I really enjoy working and living in New Zealand as it is very quiet here and the people are kind and easy to talk to. The lifestyle here is so relaxing and slow paced compared to China, I enjoy being able to enjoy a relaxing weekend after a busy week.”

Christchurch was the first city Leo visited in New Zealand and soon became his home. “At the beginning I felt Christchurch was too quite to live, however, I started get used to the quite environment and now I love living here.”

Before joining with CrestClean in June 2012, Leo was a Sales Representative at a retail chain store. He says he enjoys working with CrestClean much better as the hours are more flexible and he gets a lot of help and support from the Head Office.

He says, “Working with Banks Avenue School is especially enjoyable as everyone is so kind to me and the staff are very helpful. The Canterbury earthquakes were such a tragedy, but the bright side is that the rebuild is going well and more opportunities are opening up for everyone. I’m optimistic about the future here.”
