Upskilling personnel is Crest’s point of difference
Completing the British Institute of Cleaning Sciences (BICSc) training and assessments has instilled an abundance of confidence in Christchurch North CrestClean franchisee Dan Mahida.
Dan completed his BICSc Cleaning Professional Skills Suite (CPSS) Certificate and the BICSc Licence to Clean. He also completed a two day Hard Floor Course and a Pure Water Window Cleaning course.
“They were amazing. I didn’t have a lot of experience in the cleaning industry so I learned a lot of new techniques and skills,” he says. “I feel more confident on the job.”
The CPSS covers everything from core skills – glass cleaning and two solution mopping to specialist skills – microfibre, hard floors, soft furnishings and specialist environments.
“People think cleaning is an easy task and that they don’t need training for it but there is so much more to it than just mopping and vacuuming,” he says. “I learned a lot about health and safety. It was a good experience and the courses were good. Every course we did, we always learnt new things. The courses teach you the proper way to do things. They are so valuable.”
The programme, which is run through the Master Cleaners Training Institute (MCTI) in conjunction with CrestClean, aims to raise industry standards by equipping personnel with skills, knowledge and NZQA recognised qualifications.
Dan has owned his CrestClean franchise for 18 months.
“I enjoy working for myself. I have great relationships with my clients. I enjoy and take pride in all of my work. Crest is the best,” he says.
MCTI Chief Executive Officer Adam Hodge says like all CrestClean personnel who have completed the training courses; Dan has shown he can work safely demonstrating competency in a variety of core skills.
“They are Crest’s point of difference,” he says. “It is through training that we can raise the standards and status of the cleaning industry in New Zealand. These courses are vital to the success of the Master Cleaners Training Institute and CrestClean.”
