CrestClean newbies Ashwin and Rownel Chandra have set the bar high in the short time they’ve been small business owners.

The switched-on husband and wife franchisees embraced their training with open arms and soon made a big impression with their attitude and commitment to the job, says CrestClean’s Auckland West Regional Manager Caroline Wedding.

Caroline and Julie Griffin, Crest’s Auckland Quality Assurance Co-ordinator, have been impressed by the couple’s enthusiasm and get-up-and-go.

“Julie and I are so blown away by them. The quality of their cleaning and their understanding of their customers’ needs is amazing,” said Caroline.

Ashwin and Rownel joined CrestClean in January and showed from the start they are committed to making their business a success, says Caroline.

The couple, who have full-time day jobs, clean at Oratia District School in the evenings.

“They understand the industry and took their training seriously. This is their first contract and they have got it so right,” added Caroline.
Caroline arranged a sweet treat for Oratia School when she introduced Ashwin and Rownel. The four cakes were a reward for the hardworking teachers, says Caroline.

“It’s good for teachers and school staff to meet the people who are cleaning their school.

“When I start a new school I take the team in to meet the staff and we have cake. We shout morning tea and set up the Cleanest Classroom Awards.

“It personalises it and the school knows who are looking after them. Teachers quite rightly take their teaching space very seriously and they like it to be kept nice and clean.”

Originally from Fiji, Ashwin, 36 and Rownel, 40, have been in New Zealand for nine years.

Ashwin works as a Pak’nSave check out operator while Rownel is employed at an Auckland engineering company as an aluminium fabricator.

They were introduced to CrestClean by one of Ashwin’s colleagues who owns a Crest franchise. “She said you could earn good money by buying a CrestClean business,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin said she and her husband had been impressed by CrestClean’s procedures.

“The training is extremely good and everything is explained as you go along. Our business is going well, we work well as a team and we’re very happy,” she added.
