CrestClean regional manager takes top title in prestigious awards

Viky Narayan and his wife Nileshna receive their award from Carl Seymour, Partner Enterprise KPMG, sponsors of the Regional Master Franchisee of the Year Award.

CrestClean’s Viky Narayan is on cloud nine today after picking up the title of Regional Master Franchisee of the Year.

Judges for the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards praised Viky for operating “a high-performing and very well managed regional master franchise”.

Viky, who is CrestClean’s Auckland South Regional Manager, is no stranger to success at the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards. He picked up the same award four years ago.

Finalists at the awards ceremony, held in Auckland on Saturday, came from all over the country. The range of business types covered everything from cafes to cleaning companies, childcare to convenience stores, and bakeries to building maintenance.

Viky and his wife Nileshna were praised by the judges for their hard work in implementing CrestClean’s proven system, which operates throughout New Zealand.

“This success is the result of combining a well-developed national franchise model with Viky and Nileshna’s own efforts.

“CrestClean Auckland South is a high-performing and very well managed regional master franchise,” said the judges.

“They have excellent tools, systems and processes to support and drive the business and their success is evident in their performance and results across all areas.

“Some of their key strengths are: a focus on performance through management by fact; looking for new customers across an extremely diverse group of industries; good understanding of customer requirements and delivering to them; staff training, performance review, and mentoring; the active management of franchisees in their area; and ensuring compliance and health and safety are to the fore.”

Viky says his secret to success is simple and is based on putting the customer first. “Just deliver on whatever you say and keep your word.

“It’s so important to look after your customers well. Make plenty of time for them and treat them all equally, regardless of whether they are big or small.”

But Viky also paid tribute to his team of franchised owner-operators who are the backbone of his business.

“Without them I couldn’t achieve this success for my business. They are my frontline army and they work tirelessly for their customers. What they do directly affects how I grow my business.

“This award is a great platform of national recognition. Winning it recognises and rewards all the hard work.”

Viky is an accountant by profession and has owned his CrestClean business since 2005. He and Nileshna now look after 56 franchise teams in the South Auckland area.

Viky says that the most rewarding part of the success of his business has been the impact on others. He’s seen many franchisees become home owners as a direct result of having a successful cleaning business.

“Franchisees earn a great stream of income with a good work/life balance, and for many of them it helps to purchase their first home.”

Grant McLauchlan, CrestClean’s Managing Director, says Viky and Nileshna’s award success brought a sense of pride to everyone at the company.

“We are delighted that their hard work and commitment to their franchisees’ success and to CrestClean as a system has been acknowledged by the industry.

“They have truly played their part in CrestClean’s overall journey of business excellence and this result recognises the success that can be achieved as a CrestClean Master Franchisee. Well done!”
