Couple thrilled with move from employees to business owners

Edelyn and Paulo Robles bought a large van so they have plenty of room to grow their business.

More family time with a regular and stable income are just two of the many benefits Edelyn and Paulo Robles are enjoying having recently joined CrestClean.

Being a contractor in the telecommunications industry meant Paulo could never be sure of a regular pay cheque.

The couple bought a CrestClean business after working for friends, who are also from the Philippines and own a cleaning franchise in Hastings. The experience showed them that with a business of their own they would have more financial security.

Edelyn says they are now getting to spend extra time together. But it’s not just being able to see more of their two young girls before work, she’s enjoying the physical side of the job. “I really like cleaning as you’re moving around and you don’t feel the cold plus it keeps you fit!”

Paulo, who had been working as fibre technician for Chorus, was often away from home for long periods carrying out installation work in the South Island.

He is eventually planning to concentrate full time on their CrestClean business when more work comes along.
“Now life is much better and we like the free time we get together,” he says. “We decided to buy a big van when we started with CrestClean as it will enable us to expand the business in time.”

Tim O’Leary, CrestClean’s Hawke’s Bay Regional Manager, says Edelyn and Paulo have earned a reputation for the high quality of their work.

“They’ve been with us for about 18 months working for one of our other teams. Their goal has been to work for themselves and it’s really great to see them finally achieve this.”
