Top award rounds off successful first year for business owner

Fazeel Ali receives his award from Gina Holland, the company’s Christchurch South Regional Manager.

It’s been a big first year for Fazeel Ali, who joined CrestClean a little over 12 months ago.

The former chef and building worker has seen his fortunes change in so many ways, the highlight being winning Franchisee of the Year award for Christchurch South.

Gina Holland, the company’s Christchurch South Regional Manager, says Fazeel gives 110 percent to his business. “He’s achieved a remarkable amount in just a year.”

After completing his training, Fazeel went on to undertake a number of upskilling courses including, Hard Floor Care and Pure Water Window cleaning. He is also now an Induction Trainer and oversees the training of new franchisees for Master Cleaners Training Institute.

Gina says she’s been impressed how well Fazeel looks after his customers’ requirements. “He makes the effort to meet his customers directly and he builds strong and trusting relationships with them, which makes a huge difference.”

Since buying a CrestClean franchise, Fazeel has worked tirelessly on building his business and has doubled the size of the turnover. But as well as all the hard efforts, there’s still plenty of free time for the family, he says.

“It’s really working out well for me. I get a lot of family time and I get weekends off, I’m really happy.”

His wife Shazia Sazlin currently has another job but she’s planning to join forces with her husband next year. “My wife is a meat inspector in a freezing works but she will be joining me in January so we’ll both be in the business fulltime.”

Having a cleaning business that has a guaranteed income has enabled the couple to bring forward their plans to become homeowners.

“Before I joined CrestClean my finances were not that good because I didn’t have much regular work,” says Fazeel. “But now my accounts look good and I’ve been able to get a mortgage. We’ve been able to save the deposit to buy a house. I’m very happy.”
