Term 3 ended on a high note for tidy Kiwis in South Canterbury who won the region’s latest Cleanest Classroom Awards from CrestClean.

The Cleanest Classroom programme is run at many of the over 500 primary and intermediate schools that are cleaned by CrestClean franchisees, with the classrooms that are kept the cleanest in the school awarded a certificate and a prize at the end of the term.

Students at Beaconsfield School, Hinds School, Ashburton Netherby School, Ashburton Borough School and Ashburton Intermediate School were amongst those to be rewarded for their efforts, with pizza and lollipops.

“The schools absolutely love it. They really take it on board, with some healthy competition between the classrooms. It’s something to look forward to at the end of the term,” says Rob Glenie, CrestClean’s South Canterbury Regional Master Franchisee.

“It’s a really good way for the kids to become aware that someone comes in and cleans up after them. They get to appreciate the cleaner a little bit more and see who does the tidying up, which helps in keeping the rooms a little bit tidier.

“It encourages the children to pick up items that are on the floor, like pens and pencils, and teaches them to be tidy Kiwis.”

Rob says the awards programme also helps franchisees to be more efficient.

“The time they save on picking up rubbish, can be better spent providing a high-quality cleaning service, to create a safe, healthy environment for students and staff.”
