Going the extra mile comes naturally to Bernard Rivera. For the staff at Tavendale and Partners law firm in Ashburton, Bernard’s friendliness lights up their day.

Bernard and his team look after the Client Centre for Tavendale and Partners, which offers meeting spaces to the local community free of charge. Wendy, the Client Centre Manager, has a great working relationship with Bernard and says he’s always ready to go above and beyond.

“One thing I really appreciate is that he’ll put the bins out if I forget,” says Wendy, who looks after the building.

“He’ll leave me a note and say, ‘I popped your bins out last night’. He even turns the dishwasher on for us.”

On especially windy days when Wendy fears she’ll lose the bin down the road, she knows she can flick Bernard an email asking him to put the bins out at the end of his clean when the wind is likely to have died down. He’s only too happy to help.

“That’s the sort of relationship we have,” Wendy says.

Wendy’s responsible for organising maintenance for the Tavendale and Partners building and Bernard’s willingness to help makes her job a little easier. Whether it’s a quick reminder for her to restock the tissue paper or organising a full window clean, Bernard is “onto everything,” she says.

To thank Tavendale and Partners for their continued support, Bernard and his team presented the staff with a selection of delicious cake pops in a range of flavours.

“The staff just absolutely loved it. It was just so special,” says Wendy.

Having dealt with several cleaning companies over the years, Wendy’s had some challenging experiences in the past. However, it’s been nothing but smooth sailing with Bernard and his team.

For Wendy, good communication and friendliness is everything – traits that Bernard has in spades.

“If I email him this morning, I will hear from him this morning,” says Wendy.

“I’ve been here two years today and I’ve never had to chase him up about anything.”

Despite being approached by other cleaning companies at least once a month, Wendy’s not about to give up what she has with CrestClean.

“Why change something that’s not broken?”

Wendy says Bernard provides an invaluable service to the Tavendale and Partners building.

“If you had to rate somebody as giving good service, he’d get 11 out of 10.”
