Young Northland franchisees set their sights on homeownership

Naman and Jamee are going through the process of purchasing their first home at just 22 years old.

Owning a home was a long-term goal for young couple, Naman and Jamee. At the age of just 22, they are on the verge of realising this dream after only eight months as CrestClean franchisees. With a clear idea of what they want to achieve, the ambitious couple have a very bright future ahead of them.

The Whangarei-based couple are currently ticking all the boxes, showing the bank they’re ready to be homeowners.

“It’s a bit of a process ‘cause we haven’t actually been with the business for one year. If it’s been more than one year, the process is quite smooth, but if it’s less than one year, they need to look at everything,” says Naman.

“Age is also a factor because we’re under 25.”

Jamee says homeownership has always been on the cards, but since becoming CrestClean franchisees, it’s been a very real possibility.

“It’s always been one of our near-future goals. Joining CrestClean has broadened our options ‘cause we’ve been able to save more,” says Jamee.

Naman and his partner, Jamee, met while studying to become Pharmacy Technicians in Auckland. About five months before their studies were finished, the couple started their plan to move to Whangarei.

“We started saving because we knew that once our studies finished, we wanted to move out of Auckland,” says Naman.

Naman came to New Zealand from India four years ago. Funds might have been low, but his determination to succeed was at an all-time high. He worked as a Night Fill Assistant at Countdown while he completed his studies. Once qualified, he and Jamee both began an internship at Chemist Warehouse.

While working at Chemist Warehouse, Naman had a chance conversation with the store’s cleaner. This brief conversation was what set the wheels in motion for Naman and Jamee to purchase a franchise of their own.

“I randomly ended up asking him how it was and what it was like. He gave me some great information and it was quite appealing,” says Naman.

“I knew a few people in Auckland who do the same sort of thing. They told me it was amazing if you do it yourself and you do a good job. So, we ended up deciding that we wanted to do it as well.”

Becoming a franchisee was a careful decision for the couple. Jamee recalls going through various business ideas before settling on a CrestClean franchise.

“Naman was looking for some business ideas so we’d sit down and go over everything to see if it would be viable for us,” says Jamee.

Naman is still working full-time at Chemist Warehouse, managing his cleaning jobs in the evenings. Although life is busy right now, the couple are very goal-oriented and have a clear path to success. They know that the hard work they put in now will pay off down the track.

“I definitely want to grow it to a point where I can just manage my team and the only way to get there is to continue working hard,” says Naman.

In their short time as franchisees, Naman and Jamee have doubled their customer base. Now that Naman has his NZ residency, he has the freedom to pursue unlimited opportunities and plans to increase the business the old-fashioned way.

“Basically, work hard, reduce hours at the pharmacy, knock on some doors and get a few more contracts,” says Naman.

Congratulations, Naman and Jamee! We look forward to hearing the good news of your house purchase.
