Palmerston North franchise owners share Ramadan spirit with Winchester School

Aznayne and Angeline Sahayam celebrate Ramadan with Winchester School Principal, Nic Mason.

In the spirit of Ramadan, Winchester School staff received a special treat from Palmerston North franchise owners, Aznayne and Angeline Sahayam. Having cleaned Winchester School since 2020, Aznayne and Angeline wanted to share the joy of their cultural celebration by hosting a surprise Ramadan celebration.

Principal at Winchester School, Nic Mason, welcomed the surprise.

“I got a phone call the afternoon before and they asked if they could contribute a platter for morning tea the next day. I replied absolutely – thank you very much!” says Nic.

Ramadan is a sacred month in the Islamic calendar that promotes spiritual growth, celebration, self-discipline and empathy for the less fortunate. Aznayne and Angeline saw this as a perfect opportunity to show appreciation for their long-term customers at Winchester School.

Angeline prepared a delicious spread of bhajis, samosas, and a fresh fruit platter for the staff to enjoy.

“Aznayne and Angeline arrived the next morning with the beautiful platters, which Angeline had prepared herself,” says Nic.

The celebration sparked curiosity among the staff who were eager to learn more about Ramadan.

“Aznayne gave us a flyer about Ramadan. Many of the teachers and teacher aids read it and discussed that they’d never known what it was all about,” says Nic.

“They were grateful for the flyer.”

Palmerston North and Kapiti Coast Regional Master Franchisee, Shareen Raj, says Aznayne and Angeline are experts in cleaning schools. Having been CrestClean franchise owners for over seven years, the couple are role models for other teams, particularly when it comes to term cleaning.

“Aznayne and Angeline take pride in delivering the required service for all their customers and they always look after them in a professional manner. They communicate promptly and efficiently, ensuring all customer needs are met,” says Shareen.

Aznayne and Angeline’s heartwarming gesture exemplifies the spirit of community and cultural exchange. Nic says the staff at Winchester School were very grateful to be part of their special celebration.

“As a staff we thanked Aznayne and Angeline. The food was delicious.”
