CrestClean franchise gets South Canterbury family on property ladder
Angelo and Jocelyn Dayrit have been enjoying their new home in Netherby, Ashburton for almost a year. Their previous three-bedroom house was proving too small for their growing family, prompting the couple to design and build a four-bedroom, 234sqm home. Now their children, aged 16, 12 and 8, each have a bedroom to themselves.
Balancing work and family life was a challenge before CrestClean. Angelo previously worked as a butcher, prepping and supplying meat to major supermarkets like New World and Countdown. The long hours left him with little time for his kids, so he decided to make a change and seek a career that offered more flexibility.
“My kids were asleep when I got home and already at school when I woke up. I was only seeing them on weekends,” he says.
After seeing a CrestClean van parked in their neighbour’s driveway, Angelo and Jocelyn became curious about franchise ownership. The van belonged to close friends, Michael and Rosa Rigor, who assured Angelo and Jocelyn that a CrestClean franchise was a good investment.
Within two months, Angelo and Jocelyn were meeting with Regional Master Franchisee, Rob Glenie, to secure a franchise. They’ve now been franchise owners for five years which has given them the financial stability to build a brand-new home. Their new work schedule has also significantly improved their work-life balance.
“With CrestClean, I can control my own time. That’s the best thing about it,” he says.
“I spend so much more time with my kids compared to what things were like before CrestClean.”
Angelo currently manages his CrestClean franchise alongside his seasonal job at Livestock Improvement Corporation, which he’s held for nearly 17 years. Working as a Livestock Technician between October and January means Angelo has plenty of spare time in the off-season. Now that he’s with CrestClean, he keeps busy year-round.
“If I only had the seasonal job, I’d feel like I had retired,” laughs Angelo.
“I didn’t like that kind of feeling. I want my time to be productive.”
Looking ahead, Angelo plans to offer additional services to customers, such as carpet cleaning. Purchasing a carpet cleaning machine is next on the list for Angelo as he strives to expand his business now that his children are older.
“I currently have a lot of time in the morning, and I like to be busy!” he laughs.
With Angelo’s drive to succeed, we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.
