Former Chef discovers recipe for success as CrestClean franchise owner
Mandeep Singh is a shining example of dedication and hard work paying off. Recently recognised as CrestClean’s Franchisee of the Year for the Hawke’s Bay region, Mandeep is living proof of where hard work can take you.
Before joining CrestClean, Mandeep was a head chef with a demanding schedule that often stretched from 10 am to 10 pm, leaving him with little time to spend with family or pursue his passion for bodybuilding. Despite having a senior position at the restaurant, he knew his earning potential was limited.
So, in a significant career move, Mandeep purchased a CrestClean franchise in April 2022. Since then, his business has boomed.
“I was getting good money as a chef, but I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I’ve achieved with CrestClean,” he says.
“I’ve already been able to buy a house. We move in next month.”
Mandeep’s worked tirelessly to achieve rapid business growth. He now has two staff and 25 happy customers, including big names like McDonald’s and Mission Estate Winery.
“I’m working as much as I can because I want to go far,” he says.
For Mandeep, happy customers are the most important part of his business. He talks to them regularly and schedules a check-in every two months to make sure they’re happy with his service. With his dedication to delivering high standards across the board, it’s no wonder 22 of his customers have been with him since day one.
“I focus on keeping my customers happy. I like to chat to them, spend time with them and even go for a coffee with them. They’re all really nice and I learn a lot from our connection,” he says.
“My customers are my friends.”
When asked what he loves most about owning a business, Mandeep says it’s the ability to dictate his own schedule.
“I enjoy managing my time. I don’t have any pressure because I’m my own boss. And… I can come home if I’m hungry,” he laughs.
Mandeep has experienced first-hand the many opportunities that can come from owning a CrestClean franchise. Three friends in Nelson, Hawkes Bay, and Christchurch have followed his lead and purchased a franchise as well.
His advice to new franchisees is simple.
“Don’t overthink it. Give your best to each site and talk to your customers. It’ll help you keep them long-term.”
Despite his busy schedule, Mandeep’s sights are set on further expansion. With the continued support of Regional Master Franchisee, Tim O’Leary, Mandeep is well-positioned to take his business to even greater heights.
“I also want to say a huge thank you to Tim. When I want more work, he gives me more work,” he says gratefully.
Mandeep’s relentless work ethic and exceptional relationship-building skills have made him a deserving recipient of the Franchisee of the Year Award. We can’t wait to see what he achieves next!
