South Canterbury franchise owners build successful large business in just five years
Tejbir and Samreen Singh Dhillon recently celebrated five years as proud owners of a CrestClean franchise.
Before joining CrestClean, Tejbir juggled long hours owning a courier franchise while Samreen balanced part-time work and caring for their young children. The heavy workload led the couple to seek a business that offered more flexibility and better earning potential.
“We decided to find something that would let us work either alternately or together and, of course, earn more money,” says Tejbir.
Tejbir and Samreen were living in Timaru in 2019 when they discovered CrestClean. At the time, there were only a few franchise teams in the region. The couple met with Regional Master Franchisee, Rob Glenie, whose enthusiasm assured them that a CrestClean franchise would meet their need for both work-life balance and financial security.
Since that meeting, Rob has seen Tejbir and Samreen build a well-managed and successful large business.
“They are real shining stars in the region. They have met every challenge head-on,” says Rob.
“Samreen and Tejbir put their customers first, which shows in their top scores for quality audits and many happy customers.”
CrestClean enabled Samreen and Tejbir to get onto the property ladder within one month of owning a franchise. Showing the bank their new income was the boost they needed to push their home loan application through.
“We only had two pays come through before the loan was approved,” says Tejbir.
The couple have since moved to Geraldine where they purchased a second home. With four full-time staff, they can continue running their business in multiple locations, including Timaru, Temuka and Geraldine. Tejbir is committed to maintaining the highest standards of service, ensuring his team is well-trained and have access to quality cleaning equipment.
“I keep my staff happy. I don’t believe in short cuts, and I keep everything up to date,” he says.
“It’s been a big investment, but it’s been amazing.”
Unlike his previous franchise, Tejbir says he feels like a true business owner at CrestClean, rather than another employee.
“You really feel like the owner. If you’re doing well, they leave you alone.”
Tejbir and Samreen prioritised a slow and steady approach to building their business, ensuring a strong understanding of the business before expanding their customer base. They’re grateful for the support they receive from CrestClean.
“Starting any business takes time, but I don’t know any other franchise like CrestClean. Here, there is always a back-up. I know I can go to Rob with any issue,” says Tejbir.
With a goal to keep expanding their business, Tejbir and Samreen are heading towards a very successful future.
