Unwavering support helps Fazeel unlock his potential

Fazeel Ali is living proof that with focus and determination, anything is possible. Five years ago, he purchased his CrestClean franchise, experiencing slow but steady growth, though not quite at the level he had hoped for.

But six months ago, everything changed. Fazeel decided to take his ambitions to the next level, setting bold goals for his business. With determination and support from South Canterbury Regional Master Franchisee, Rob Glenie, he has tripled his turnover and doubled the size of his team. Fazeel recently completed the Aspire2 course in Workplace Communications, boosting his confidence as a leader and business owner.

“I wasn’t expecting to be able to handle a business this big, but with the confidence from the course and the help from Rob, I’m achieving my goals,” says Fazeel.

“Rob doesn’t want us to just be cleaners. He wants us to be successful business owners.”

Knowing Fazeel had a lot of untapped potential, Rob gave him the opportunity to manage the cleaning of one of New Zealand’s largest schools – Rolleston College. The school has over 1,800 students and is currently expanding with new classrooms. Once completed, it will become the largest secondary school in New Zealand.

South Canterbury Regional Master Franchisee Rob Glenie presents Fazeel Ali with his five-year Long Service Award.

The school’s facilities are managed by Programmed Facilities Maintenance – a full facilities management service. Their Facility Co-ordinator, Wayne Carling, is responsible for daily maintenance of the grounds and buildings at Rolleston College, working closely with Fazeel every day. Wayne considers Fazeel an essential part of the team.

“We have very high standards and Faz takes the same pride in his work that we do. I’m pretty tough, and he gets audited every week, so he needs to keep that level up and he always does,” says Wayne.

“I acknowledge the hard work he does for me, and I know I can rely on him. He makes things really easy for me.”

The recent term cleans at such a large school were no easy task, but Fazeel left no stone unturned. The school staff were thrilled to arrive on the first day back at school to find it spotless.

“He worked so hard over the school holidays and the place looked a picture when we came back,” says Wayne.

Having previously worked for a franchise company, Wayne understands the effort required to build a successful business. He says Rob’s support has been instrumental in helping Fazeel realise his potential, and Fazeel has grasped every opportunity that’s come his way.

“All those steps that Rob’s taking to make Faz a better leader and manager is great – it’s what I love to see. Faz also has the attitude to succeed and if I can help with that in any way, I will. He’s worth the effort.”

Wayne says it’s a pleasure to work alongside Fazeel and he’s loved watching him grow as a business owner.

“CrestClean should be proud of him. There’s a success right there.”

Fazeel speaks highly of both Rob and Wayne, crediting them as influences in his road to success. With pride in what he has achieved, Fazeel knows there’s a bright future ahead for him.

“I’m really happy to be part of CrestClean and I can’t wait to take my business further,” he says.

“It’s been a really exciting journey for me.”

For Rob, Fazeel’s success has been one of the highlights of his role as Regional Master Franchisee. He says it’s been inspiring to watch Fazeel unlock his potential.

“I’m so very proud of the way Fazeel has stepped up and turned his business into a very large and quality driven CrestClean franchise.”
