CrestClean Healthcare raises standard with expert-led infection prevention and control training

We have taken a significant step in strengthening CrestClean Healthcare – our specialist healthcare cleaning division – by welcoming Francie Morgan, an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse Consultant. Francie will play a key role in enhancing and overseeing training for healthcare cleaning teams.
An IPC Nurse Consultant is a registered nurse who has undertaken postgraduate qualifications in the science of infection prevention and control. Their expertise is central to protecting patients, visitors, residents, and staff from healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
HAIs remain a persistent threat in healthcare settings, as they can lead to serious illness and increased healthcare costs. Effective infection prevention and control measures, including rigorous cleaning protocols, hand hygiene, and staff training are essential to minimise the risk of HAIs.
With many years of experience in infection control, Francie consults to a range of organisations. She is highly skilled at quickly identifying gaps in cleaning services and we’re fortunate to have her expertise driving our healthcare cleaning.
Building specialist training for CrestClean Healthcare

Liezl Foxcroft is CrestClean’s General Manager of Training, Safety and Wellbeing. She reached out to Francie to ensure CrestClean Healthcare demonstrates compliance with New Zealand healthcare standards while delivering safe and consistent results in all healthcare environments.
“It’s about training franchisees to a level of advanced knowledge and advanced cleaning, so when they go to customer sites, the correct level of advancement is portrayed,” says Francie.
Healthcare customers can be confident that CrestClean personnel are not simply ‘general cleaners,’ but specialists trained to work safely and effectively at their site. The programme is designed to be practical and ongoing, ensuring franchisees don’t just learn skills once but continue to maintain and apply them.
“It’s a very vulnerable area and it’s good to have the knowledge, but if you’re not practising in it, you might lose that knowledge,” Francie explains.
Infection prevention and control in action
CrestClean Healthcare is built on specialist HealthClean® systems and processes designed to meet the most stringent IPC standards. With dedicated teams assigned to each site, customers can rely on familiar, highly trained personnel.
Our HealthClean® approach aligns every process with clinical best practice. We follow evidence-based cleaning procedures, use hospital-grade chemicals, and implement systems to prevent cross-contamination, including colour-coded microfibre cloths. Teams are trained in restricted and semi-restricted area protocols, enabling them to safely manage high-risk environments.
The training programme focuses on infection prevention principles, teaching techniques from sanitising high-touch surfaces to safely handling biohazards. It also covers the distinction between routine and terminal cleaning, ensuring staff meet additional requirements after a patient with an infectious disease is discharged.
These methods help protect patients, residents, staff, and visitors from dangerous pathogens such as MRSA, norovirus, and C. difficile.

Breaking chains of infection with CrestClean Healthcare
CrestClean Healthcare is committed to setting the benchmark for safe, effective healthcare cleaning in New Zealand. By investing in IPC-led training and drawing on Francie’s expertise, we are ensuring our teams are equipped with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and evidence-based practices that meet the highest healthcare cleaning standards.
With Francie’s guidance, our training can also keep up with new challenges, such as new pathogens and advancements in cleaning technology, so our cleaning teams can adapt quickly and confidently.
The focus on infection prevention and control gives healthcare providers peace of mind knowing their cleaning team is actively breaking chains of infection every day
