Beyond cleaning – how CrestClean teams go the extra mile across New Zealand

CrestClean teams are known for going above and beyond the call of duty.

“Above and beyond.”

“The extra mile.”

These are the words we hear time and time again from our customers when they talk about their CrestClean teams.

Across New Zealand, CrestClean franchisees are quietly doing more than what’s written in their schedule of duties. From schools and healthcare sites to offices and manufacturing environments, CrestClean teams are going the extra mile every day.

It’s not uncommon to hear stories of our teams stepping in during unexpected situations, always ready to support their customers in whatever way is needed. They learn the rhythms of each workplace, get to know the people who use the space, and understand how to exceed their expectations.

Here are just 10 examples (among many) that show the different ways our teams go above and beyond.

1. Spotting issues before they become problems – Maraenui Bilingual School

Hawke’s Bay franchise owners Bidur and Barsha Karki keep an eye out for anything that might need attention – from cracked toilet seats to rusty taps – and check in each evening to make sure everything is running smoothly. As Executive Officer Marina Hancy says, “There’s no need for us to check their cleaning, because we know their high standard.”

2. Proactive and sustainable cleaning solutions at Duncan Cotterill

Auckland Central franchise owner Sri Gunasingam leads a team that not only keeps the Duncan Cotterill offices spotless but also actively supports their sustainability initiatives. Receptionist Maryanne Hannen says, “It is reassuring to know that daily tasks, special requests, and one-off jobs will all be completed to the same exacting high standards.”

3. Helping with school maintenance at Ormiston Primary School

Atul Chopra treats Ormiston Primary School as if it were his own home. Beyond cleaning, he addresses maintenance issues, such as loose door handles and plumbing problems. He also double-checks security each evening. Principal Heath McNeil says, “Atul truly goes above and beyond every single day. His work plays a big part in creating a safe, welcoming environment for our learners and staff.”

4. Supporting patient safety at Kākāriki Hospital

Auckland franchise owners Hari and Anandkumar Patel keep operating theatres and recovery areas at Kākāriki Hospital spotless, adhering to the highest infection control standards. Their specialised Infection Prevention and Control training means both patients and staff stay safe. As Clinical Services Manager Fleur Collins says, “The CrestClean team consistently demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and responsiveness to feedback.”

5. Maintaining exceptional standards at DFE Pharma

Dic Lumanglas and Flora Gaunt clean DFE Pharma’s pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Taranaki to the highest standards, ensuring hygiene levels are so high that weekly bacteria and yeast tests consistently score zeros. Supervisor Stephen Fenn says, “They do everything we need and more. Their pride and professionalism are evident in every task.”

6. Flexibility and responsiveness at Browns Bay School

Looking after 34 classrooms for 650 students and 60 staff is a big job, but North Harbour franchise owners Eloy and Jean Capati, along with Tushar and Nikita Patel, handle it with ease. They happily adjust schedules for after-school events and make sure desks are sanitised every Friday to keep everyone safe and healthy. Property Manager Mike Miller appreciates their ability to step up when the need arises, “They go the extra mile, especially when we have unexpected incidents.”

7. Exceeding expectations at Howard Wright

Just five months into their franchise journey, Taranaki’s Sunny and Prabhjot Kumar had nearly doubled their business and achieved a 100% customer satisfaction score. At Howard Wright, their attention to detail and proactive communication have impressed Finance Manager Leisa Kelson who says, “The standard is meeting, if not exceeding, expectations.”

8. Adapting to a changing environment at Allproof Industries

For the past ten years, CrestClean franchise owner Nitesh Kumar has been keeping the Allproof Industries headquarters spotless. Nitesh has adapted his cleaning to meet the needs of the growing site, managing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, and high-use kitchens, all while maintaining a consistently high standard. Administration Manager Jacinta Robertson says, “Keeping everything clean is no small task, but Nitesh has been really consistent. If there’s ever an issue, he’ll be in that day to fix it. He’s amazing.”
