CrestClean supports West Auckland Hospice with decade of trusted cleaning and care

For West Auckland Hospice, a clean and calm environment is essential to the care they provide, and since 2015 CrestClean has been proud to play a part in that. With four inpatient beds, the hospice is designed to feel like a true home away from home, where comfort, dignity, and compassion are at the centre of every interaction.
CrestClean cares for the site seven days a week, with franchise owners Edwin Prakash and Ashna Devi taking care of weekdays, and Arlene and Eldon Olsen covering the weekends.
With so much care and compassion given to others every day, CrestClean’s Auckland West Regional Manager Caro Wedding feels privileged to support West Auckland Hospice. Caro has a deep appreciation for their work and is grateful for the longstanding relationship.
“I feel not only proud, but humbled to support such professional, genuine staff at West Auckland Hospice,” says Caro. “Everyone I have met over the years goes about their days with kindness and I am a huge supporter of everything they do for our community.”
When the hospice reopened its inpatient unit last November, extending its partnership with CrestClean was a natural choice. Chief Operating Officer Blanka Schuster says it’s great to have a cleaning team who understands the unique nature of the hospice environment and can carry out their work respectfully and without disruption.
“It’s a homely environment, so it’s really important to have the right people here,” says Blanka. “They’re part of the team.”
Edwin, Ashna, Arlene and Eldon are mindful of this every day, quietly caring for the whole site, including the inpatient unit and office areas. Blanka says they have a wonderful way of working in the background while still maintaining consistently high standards.
“Sometimes they need to work around patients and families, so they have to be very accommodating,” she says. “They’re very respectful and careful about when to enter a room.”
This level of care requires specialised expertise, which Edwin, Ashna, Arlene, and Eldon acquired through CrestClean’s HealthClean® training. Designed specifically for healthcare environments, this comprehensive system ensures teams meet strict Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
For the hospice cleaning team, this involved hands-on IPC training with expert Auckland West trainer Arishma Chand. With a strong background in cleaning medical environments, Arishma delivered practical guidance on infection prevention, ensuring all procedures aligned perfectly with hospice’s specific requirements.
Looking back to before CrestClean came onboard, Blanka remembers the challenges of inconsistent cleaning standards. Since partnering with CrestClean, West Auckland Hospice has experienced consistent, high-quality cleaning, supported by regular auditing processes. She says this proactive approach gives the hospice team real peace of mind.
“I have always felt we’re in good hands,” she says. “The quality management and auditing keep the standards high.”
Blanka also recognises the strength of CrestClean’s franchise model in keeping cleaning teams engaged and motivated, with franchisees operating as independent business owners who are personally invested in their businesses.
With daily check-ins to ensure any extra tasks are taken care of, the CrestClean team goes above and beyond to support the hospice staff. Any feedback is responded to quickly and professionally.
“They are very supportive and always listen. There’s always a quick response,” says Blanka.
With Caro’s ongoing support and the dedication of the cleaning team, Blanka knows she can rely on CrestClean to keep West Auckland Hospice clean and safe, while respecting the privacy of patients and visitors.
“It’s a real partnership.”
