Viky and Nilly celebrate 20 years of growth and giving back as Master Franchisees

CrestClean CEO Grant McLauchlan presents South Auckland Master Franchisees Viky and Nileshna Narayan with their 20-Year Long Service award.

When Viky and Nileshna ‘Nilly’ Narayan moved to New Zealand from Fiji in 2000, they were starting a new chapter for their family.

Viky was working as an accountant for large organisations, while Nilly was gaining experience through various contract roles and completing her Business Studies qualification. They both had successful careers, but they wanted more than just a job — they wanted the opportunity to build something of their own and create a future shaped by their own hard work and values.

In 2004, that opportunity came when they joined CrestClean by purchasing the South Auckland Master Franchise.

Looking back, Viky says it was one of the best decisions they ever made.

“It gave us the opportunity to build a successful business together while helping other families achieve their own dreams.”

“Seeing others grow successful businesses has become just as rewarding as growing our own.”

The early years were hands-on, with Viky and Nilly taking on every role needed to grow the region. From cleaning and meeting customers to administration and business development, they were involved in every part of the business. Every customer mattered, and they worked hard to earn trust and build their reputation.

A strong team since day one, they say respect, trust and communication have been the foundation of everything they do.

“We make decisions together, celebrate success together and work through challenges together.”

Over the years, Viky and Nilly’s achievements have been recognised through a number of awards, including Business Excellence in Health and Safety, Business Excellence in Marketing and Master Franchisee of the Year in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

While extremely proud of the recognition, Viky says completing his MBA in 2024 was a particularly meaningful achievement. Balancing study, family and running a growing business was challenging, but with the encouragement and support of his daughter Tanvi, Viky had the motivation to keep going.

“I am incredibly grateful for her encouragement,” he says.

Accolades aside, Viky and Nilly say their biggest accomplishment has been seeing their franchisees succeed and knowing they’ve played a part in helping families build better futures.

“We’ve built lifelong friendships with customers, franchisees and colleagues, and knowing we’ve made a positive difference in people’s lives is what motivates us every day.”

Today, they oversee a large network of franchisees and support staff. While the business has grown significantly, the values that guided them from the beginning remain the same.

“We believe in hard work, honesty and excellent customer service,” says Viky.

With 20 years behind them and a bright future ahead, Viky and Nilly are grateful for the journey and the many people who have supported them along the way. Viky says they look forward to seeing what the future holds.

“After 20 years, I still believe the best is yet to come.”
