Pure Water Gets a Lift
The Pure Water Window Cleaning System can be used from ground level — most of the time. Unique louvres on this corner of the ANZ Building in Tauranga require a bit of extra equipment to make it safe and effective.
CrestClean’s Pure Water Window Cleaning System in operation at the ANZ Building in Tauranga is an impressive sight.
The four storey building is located at the busy intersection of Cameron Road and Elizabeth Street, and most of the structure and its features can be done from ground level with the carbon fibre, water-fed extension poles used in the Pure Water system. However, the unique louvres on the corner of the building (seen in these photos) require the use of a mobile hydraulic platform in order to fully reach between the windows and the exterior louvres.
Two operators, Crest franchisees Murray Strutton and Allan Satherly, are on the platform with the Pure Water unit, using the extendable poles and a water supply fed through a regular hose from ground level. The hydraulic lift provides a safe working platform, which can be manoeuvred into position around the windows. The operators are harnessed to the platform and use the poles and brush heads to clean the glass and frames.

Due to the high traffic in this area, window cleaning can only be done during nights and weekends, so it takes approximately two weeks for two operators to complete the entire building. The building is cleaned four times per year.
Regional Director Jan Lichtwark says the ANZ Building managers are very pleased with the quality of work and professionalism, noting that Murray and Allen are always in uniform and do a thorough job of cordoning the areas where they are working. “That’s something that wasn’t happening with the last contractors,” says Jan.
Health and Safety cones, barricades and specific hazard notices are moved along the building as the job progresses.
“I’m very proud of the guys and their work at ANZ,” he adds. “They’ve made their customers very happy and that’s lead to more work at 78 Wharf Street, Goddards Shopping Centre, and Eves Realty.”
Along with the standard CrestClean images, Murray’s new van is now branded with “Pure Water Window Cleaning,” which will surely draw even more work their way.
