Known as the ‘heart’ of Central Otago, Alexandra is a unique place.
Alexandra has a golden history that dates back to the 1860s when it was founded during the Central Otago goldrush. Gold was discovered and extensively mined until the 1930s. Alexandra, which was extensively mined until the 1930s, is also home to New Zealand’s third largest hydroelectric power station, the Clyde High Dam.
The gold that founded the town may be gone but Alexandra is thriving with new gold and so is CrestClean – there is plenty of work available in the region. This region is going from strength to strength which has been shown this year with the increase in growth and revenue. The increase also means there are plenty of future growth opportunities.
CrestClean Alexandra is not just a team – we are a family, which is why if you are new to the region we will help you settle in. We will help you find a house to rent and/or buy, ensure you find your children suitable schools and we will help get your CrestClean franchise started.
Alexandra has a thriving tourism, retail and hospitality sector with a population of 4,827.

The Otago Central Rail Trail, which follows the original trail line from Clyde through to Middlemarch, was the first of its kind to be constructed in New Zealand. It stretches 150km and can be cycled, walked or ridden on horseback. The trail is a great way to see what this great region has to offer. Once you’re on the trail, you’ll see amazing scenery, wide-open valleys and experience peace and solitude while riding over viaducts, through schist and stone tunnels and past high-country stations.
