Auckland West Regional Director Caroline Wedding is turning over a new leaf to drum up business.

She’s hit on the idea of hand delivering an exotic house plant to bosses of some of the city’s largest companies in Auckland West and North Shore areas.

“We are aiming to target about 20 companies. We are hoping they will be pleasantly surprised and impressed that we are trying something a little bit different.”

Helping Caroline deliver the plants is Karen Barnett, who assists her with new business development in her Auckland region.

“Karen, came up with an anthurium plant as the gift idea as it is natural air purifier that links nicely with our promise of a clean and healthy workplace,” said Caroline.

“We also hope the plant will be well received as it is a nice desk top size and looks lovely.”

Caroline says she hopes the idea will also highlight that being environmentally focused is one of Crest’s Five Pillars of business.

And she believes Crest’s approach to find new customers will strike a chord with business bosses of large companies.

“We are not asking for anything and I think they will find that approach refreshing. We are just saying ‘let’s see if we can connect’.

“We have said that we will follow up with a phone call to introduce ourselves and make an appointment.

Plant-lover Caroline has her fingers crossed the plants to would-be customers are cherished by their recipients.

“I just hope they remember to water the plant! We’ll be getting in touch and asking them if they liked the plant.

“Receiving a plant is certainly a little more memorable than a phone call or leaving a brochure,” she added.
