Congratulations to Northern Districts player Nensi Patel, who has been awarded Women’s Domestic Player of the Year at the ANZ New Zealand Cricket Awards 2021/22.

Nensi’s proud parents Nisha and Hitesh own a CrestClean franchise in Tauranga, while her uncle, Pinakin, is the Tauranga Operations Manager.

The award recognised Nensi’s outstanding performance over both the Women’s Dream11 Super Smash and the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield.

In accepting the award, Nensi paid tribute to her coaches: “It’s a huge honour winning the New Zealand domestic player of the year award. I’ve become quite versatile this season and I think I put that down to all the hours of work the coaches have put into me and supported me through my switch… because I was a pace bowler and now I’ve switched to spin. I dedicate that to my coaches.”

Nensi Patel receives the Nicola Browne Medal for Female Player of the Year at the Northern Districts Cricket Awards.

Earlier in the week, at the Northern Districts Cricket Awards 2021/22, Nensi, 19, was awarded the Nicola Browne Medal for Female Player of the Year.

Judges described her as “a coachable young player who brings out the best in herself and teammates around her” and an “exciting young talent with a passion to be the best”.

With aspirations to become a White Fern, she is well on her way!
